Mr. Shah is a Co-Founder of BSRE and has nearly 25 years of global real estate private equity investing experience, across asset classes including office, hospitality, retail, and residential properties.
Mr. Shah has extensive experience in restructuring and executing complex distressed, corporate, portfolio, and property-level real estate private equity transactions in the UK / Europe, as well as the US, Latin America, and Asia, having closed and/or managed transactions totalling over £5 billion of gross asset value.
Recently, Mr. Shah was a Senior Partner of Invel Real Estate, a pan-European opportunistic real estate private equity platform which managed real estate assets with a gross asset value in excess of €3 billion and deployed in excess of €1 billion. Notable transactions include the €1 billion acquisition of the NBG Pangaea REIC (Greece’s largest REIC) and the distressed acquisition of a circa €100 million Aphrodite Hills integrated hotel, residential, and golf complex in Cyprus.
Prior to Invel, Mr. Shah spent 2.5 years as a Principal of Ranieri Real Estate Partners in New York, focusing on the acquisition of distressed commercial loan portfolios and individual distressed assets, and the prior 11 years holding various global roles with Deutsche Bank / RREEF, largely focusing on opportunistic real estate private equity transactions. Notable European transactions include the circa €1 billion acquisition of La Rinascente (Italy’s leading department store company), and the circa €1.4 billion acquisition of Newreal S.p.A. (then the commercial real estate subsidiary of Enel, Italy’s largest power company).
Mr. Shah received his B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1999.
